Takarazuka University

History

History

Takarazuka University was established in 1987 as an art university. The University’s unique way of incorporating IT and multimedia into art education, based on the founding principle of “harmony of arts and sciences,” attracted great attention as a pioneering approach at that time. Many graduates have since entered various domains of professional activities. Since IT and multimedia education has become widespread at and below the secondary education level, Takarazuka University has flexibly reviewed its educational curricula.
In 2006, the Tokyo School of Media Content was established. In 2010, the School of Nursing was established in response to the requirements of the times. Takarazuka University has thus become a university with two specializations in art and design (two departments) and nursing (one department).
The starting point of the University’s two specializations is essentially the same in that both art and nursing are creative acts of appealing to people’s hearts, empowering and supporting people. Through education in art and nursing that appeal to people’s hearts, Takarazuka University aims to train individuals who contribute to society through their practice of art or nursing.
In 2012, Takarazuka University marked the milestone of the 25th anniversary of its establishment, which turned out to be a major turning point. The University has since been actively striving to further enhance and strength its education and research.
